The 2012 Race Season has arrived and The Argyle had a strong presence at a strong season opener outside of Corvallis, OR. The Cherry Pie Road Race on February 19th provided riders, new and experienced, a chance to gauged where their skills are at.
The Life Cycle Team had 15 riders made the drive to compete. In the Junior 13-15 Category, 3 new riders to Life Cycle mixed it up with Gus and Ben Elder taking 5th and 8th respectively, and Henrick Morseth taking home a 2nd place finish. Stephan Kocher and James Jorgensen battled with a strong Cat 3 field with Jorgensen taking a top 10 spot. Mark Lipchick represented the team well in the Master’s 4/5 Category placing 13th. In the Cat 5A field, The Argyle was well seen by crowds along the course with 7 riders. Kevin Wythe placed 25th, Josh Wells took 16th, and August Frank captured an 11th place finish on the torturous climb to the finish line. Albert Edwards, Jeremy Cantrell, Tyler Stewart, and Luis Palacios rounded out the second half of the field. Mike Sims was having a great showing in the Cat 5B field until a mechanical failure forced him into his small chain ring for the second half of the race. The ladies of Life Cycle were represented by Kim Frank taking 11th, and Nataly Arevalo, a dual member with the UO Cycling Team, taking 19th in the Woman’s 4/5.
